Stoked 11ft. #7/8 Switch
This is a great choice if you want to get started with Switch rods and all the fun that comes with them. Lightweight, with a medium fast action and performance far beyond what you would expect from rods of this price level. This is the right line weight to start with if your goal is not the biggest fish in medium and larger rivers.

We recommend rigging this rod with the following Guideline lines for Scandi/Spey style casting:

-> 3D+ Compact 8,3 m / 27,2 ft , 30 grams (463 grains) #7/8 Shooting Heads. These are available in seven models from Float to S2/5/7.

Add a tapered nylon leader of 12’ to 15’ to the floating head. To the floating/sinking heads add a 9’ fluorocarbon leader 03X to 01X that you lengthen with fluorocarbon tippet pieces to reach the proper total length.

You can also use a 5’ to 10’ polyleader + tippet on the floating / floating + sinking heads.

On full sinking lines or with big heavy flies, use 1.5 to 2 meters of fluorocarbon tippet. Not pretty to cast but fishes very well.

For loop to loop connection, protect the head’s soft loop by using 30 to 60 cm of thick diameter 30+lb test fluorocarbon for the butt of the leader.

Overhang: start with 30 cm, do not go longer than 60cm.

“3D+ Compact heads are available in weights covering most encountered fishing with single hand- switch and shorter double hand rods, except the very heaviest line weights. They are short, yet extremely rigid and precise in the flight during casting. We have spent a lot of time fine tuning the weight balance, the individual lengths and the transitions between the various densities to optimize them both in terms of sink speeds and tracking through the water. Their ability to stay balanced, yet powerful enough to turn over bulky, wind-resistant flies and cast further than you thought possible with such short lines make them a great all-round option.

Their buoyant back ends make lift-off from the water easy. They excel in the last part of the swing when current drops and a line with less buoyancy in the back will lose speed and ability to fish into your own bank. The floating part of the F/S lines is about 40% of the total length and so is the fastest sinking density in the front.

3D Compact heads feature the very latest in PVC-free, eco-friendly Polyurethane material and are pre-looped with the industry’s strongest loops. They are built on our proven Direct Contact™ cores with only 6% stretch and a breaking strength of 30 lbs. They are designed to perform perfectly without the addition of extra Tips or Polyleaders, just add your desired length of leader/tippet and you’re good to go. All lines are color-coded and ID printed in the back end for easy identification of line weight and density.”

-> 4D+ Compact Multi Tip (body and tips).

The best combination is the Floating (or F/S3) 22 gram body with 12’/ 7 grams/108 grains tips (available from Float to S5/7). They will respond better to a 45deg. and swing technique, compared to skagit style of fishing

For skagit style casts or generally for a heavier load on the rod, the following set-up is good: 4D+ Compact 25 gram/385 grains body + 10’ or 12’/7 gram/108 grains tips. (Available from Float to S5/7).”
